About World Cleanup Day
World Cleanup Day started in Estonia in 2008. Over 50.000 people started working together to clean up the entire country in just five hours. This simple idea has grown into a worldwide movement with millions of volunteers. Cleaning up litter has become an activity that connects people, groups and communities. World Cleanup Day is organized by Let's Do It World (LDIW), a global network of more than 190 countries.
World Cleanup Day Netherlands
In the Netherlands, World Cleanup Day is organized by Plastic Soup Foundation and supported by many companies and organisations. Plastic Soup Foundation is a licensee and facilitates the website, tools for the campaign to activate and motivate individuals, schools, associations and organizations to organize clean-ups and raise money.
This year we are launching the #NotInOurBackyard campaign and create awareness for the plastic pollution worldwide. Plastic does not belong in our own backyard, nor in anyone else's. We do not want plastic waste to be dumped in countries such as Indonesia. |
So turn your clean-up campaign into a fundraising campaign this year and by cleaning your local area you will also support Plastic Soup Foundation to tackle the problem of dumping plastic waste in countries such as Indonesia.
